Introduction (same for all interviews):
Hello, today I have the pleasure of speaking with [Title and Name] from [University/Institution]. Welcome, [Title and Name]! Could you please give a brief summary of your career and research? ~ 3 minutes
What would you say is your greatest research achievement, or the accomplishment you’re most proud of? ~ 3 minutes
Followed by one of the following, chosen based on the guest’s career stage and research/work focus: ~ 3 minutes
How has your area of research changed since you started your career?
Who is a lesser-known historical figure in your area of expertise you admire, and why?
What opinion do you hold that diverges from the commonly accepted view in your field of expertise?
Questions 4–6, Guest-Specific Questions (~ 3 minutes each)
These three questions will be tailored to your specific research interests. Examples include:
Can you describe your work on Neanderthals, including how you got involved at the [site] and the main findings?
Your work using new packages in R is fascinating. How do you see machine learning changing the future of morphology research?
Genetic methods have been altering perspectives on extant primate species diversity. How has this shift influenced your field site research and what is its broader implications for primatology research and conservation?
Can you summarise Pliopithecus, including changing views to how they fit in to the primate family tree, and how your research has helped improve our understanding of this fascinating group.
Quick-Fire Round (Questions 7–9, same for everyone in a given subject area; each question 20-seconds maximum). Examples:
Are anthropoids most closely related to tarsiers, Omomyidae, or Adapidae?
Which recognized species/group of hominin do you think Homo floresiensis is most closely related to?
